There are required security practices related to information technology that we must follow under federal law, UW System policy and/or Regent policy.
For information on all IT-related topics and services, please visit UWM’s information technology webpage.
IT Tools & Services
You must conduct all university work and file storage on UWM-supported tools and services. This includes Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint. Please visit the Microsoft 365 webpage to learn more about these services.
Reporting Cybersecurity Incidents
If you believe that any data maintained by the university has been subject to unauthorized access or disclosure, you must report it. Incidents or suspected incidents should be sent to UWM’s Information Security Office: infosec@uwm.edu.
You may also report online using the Cybersecurity Incident Form.
FERPA & PAWS
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a university official may not share any personally identifiable information about a student or allow their educational record to be inspected by a third party. All student information in the Panther Access to Web Services (PAWS) tool is classified as high-risk data under UW System policies, and all FERPA requirements should be followed.
