UWM IT continues to upgrade all capable university-owned computers currently running Windows 10 to Windows 11. Microsoft support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025 and UWM IT can only provide extended support updates through October 2028.
Upgrading to Windows 11
Most university-owned computers across campus have successfully upgraded to Windows 11. However, if you still have a computer that is not running Windows 11, you should install the Windows 11 upgrade as soon as possible. To check if your computer is compatible with the upgrade, please use the Windows Upgrade Compatibility Tool available in the Software Center.
Computers that cannot upgrade will not be compliant with the UW-System Information Security Policy and will be considered obsolete. If you are unsure about the status of your university-owned device or are having issues with the upgrade, please contact the UWM Help Desk.
