Chancellor’s Senior Staff
The Chancellor’s Senior Staff provides priorities and resourcing to the Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC).
IT Oversight Committees
These committees are designed to provide oversight for the strategic directions of IT and Data services at UWM. Their purpose is to promote campus-level planning, investments and outcomes where appropriate to maximize impact and minimize costs. The IT and Data Adaptive Strategic Plan is a tool which guides this work.
- Provides overall decision-making body for the University’s IT and Data Governance structure.
- Promotes campus priorities, elevates proposals for consideration, makes decisions as needed and enables the delivery of resources when appropriate.
- Receives proposals from the IT & Data Portfolio Committees.
- Chaired by the CIO and consists of UWM’s vice-chancellors and other campus leaders.
- Provides guidance and outcomes to the IT & Data Portfolio Committees.
- Provides a means for the community of IT and Data professionals to plan and speak with one voice, collectively guide the future of our fields, and leverage our capabilities to deliver desired outcomes.
- Develops and owns the IT and Data Adaptive Strategic Plan.
- Chaired by the CIO and consists of thought leaders who represent each organization from the partnerships across campus who provide IT and Data services.
Shared Governance IT Stakeholder Committees
- A subcommittee of the Faculty Senate chaired by a faculty member selected by the committee.
- Ensures the voice of faculty influences what IT and Data capabilities are provided, how they are delivered and how we protect users and data from security threats.
- A subcommittee of the Faculty Senate chaired by a faculty member selected by the committee.
- Ensures the voice of faculty influences how research is conducted and supported.
- Cross-campus group tasked with oversight of Student Information Systems at UWM.
IT Portfolio Subcommittees
Each of these subcommittees are attached to ITAC and CIO Council for oversight and guidance. All are charged with the following actions:
- Maximize the value of technology through process optimization and adoption.
- Seek new innovations to elevate impact through technology, data, and practice.
- Help to deliver relevant outcomes identified in the IT and Data Adaptive Strategic Plan.
- Develop proposals for ITAC to seek these outcomes.
Current IT Portfolio Subcommittees
This committee owns an IT portfolio for teaching and learning technologies. This portfolio supports better learning outcomes while enhancing the experiences of both students and instructors.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from areas such as Academic Affairs, UWM colleges, Online Learning, University IT Services, the Center for Advancing Student Learning and other impacted areas.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for technology and data platforms. This portfolio delivers AI services and capabilities for campus use.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from select divisions of the University. Also includes representation from University IT Services, the Center for Advancing Student Learning, Marketing and Communications, Technology Integration and Engagement Services, the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research and other stakeholder groups.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for business technology and analytics resources. This portfolio improves the efficiency of business processes while enhancing administrative experiences and outcomes.
A nominated chair and/or co-chairs heads this committee and includes representation from Finance and Administrative Affairs, divisional finance officers and research administrators. Also includes representation from University IT Services, Technology Integration and Engagement Services and other impacted stakeholder groups.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for organizing data into a shared ecosystem. This portfolio promotes data completeness, consistency, and standards, along with effective security practices, to build trust, enhance decision support and enable innovative uses of data.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from select divisions of the University. Also includes a representation of data professionals from the Warehouse End-user Reporting Initiative Team (WERIT).
This committee owns an IT portfolio for technology and data platforms. This portfolio is designed to optimize and elevate human experiences while delivering meaningful outcomes.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from select divisions of the University. Also includes representation from Academic Affairs, University IT Services, Marketing and Communications and Technology Integration and Engagement Services.
This committee promotes the safe and responsible use of technology and data through best practices, policies, and education. Their work will influence how we use existing technology and how we seek out or create new technology in the future.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from each division of the University. Also includes representation from UWM colleges, University IT Services, the Office of General Council and the Institutional Review Board.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for technology and data management platforms. This portfolio serves as the foundation for IT infrastructure that enables other systems and services.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from select divisions of the University. Also includes representation from University IT Services, Technology Integration and Engagement Services and other stakeholder groups.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for technology and data platforms and security practices. This portfolio focuses on protecting data, systems, services and people from security-related risks.
A nominated chair and/or co-chair heads this committee and includes representation from select divisions of the University. Also includes representation from University IT Services, the Office of General Council and other related areas.
This committee owns an IT portfolio for research technologies. This portfolio strengthens grant competitiveness while enhancing researcher experiences and research outcomes.
