Students participate in WSHA annual convention

Students from the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders had a successful and educational weekend at the Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Association (WSHA) annual convention.

Emily Kies and Kaitlin Sanfelippo presented a research poster at the WSHA annual conference.

Emily Kies and Kaitlin Sanfelippo (pictured right) presented a poster of their research entitled, “Comparing Augmentative and Alternative Communication Intervention Requesting Skills for Children with Complex Communication Needs.” Kies and Sanfeippo are mentored by Associate Professor Shelley Lund, PhD, CCC-SLP.

Erika Baldwin and Gina Sanfelippo received WSHA Foundation Awards. Baldwin received the Nancy McKinley Scholarship and Sanfelippo received the Judith Kulpa Scholarship.

A team of students finished in 2nd place in the annual Praxis Bowl at WSHA.

A team of students finished in 2nd place in the annual Praxis Bowl where they answered questions typical of what may appear on the national certification examination. Congratulations to team members: Erika Baldwin, Daniel Gutierrez, Larissa LaFavor, Lindsay Markworth and Cassandra Rasch.

Several students, Erika Baldwin, Megan Harris, Adyson Leonard, Grace O’Brien and Sara Wickman, also participated in the SLP pre-professional WSHA Student Leadership Summit.
