College researcher receives 2.5 million dollar grant from NIH

Brooke SlavensCongratulations to Associate Professor Brooke Slavens, PhD, from the Department of Occupational Science & Technology for receiving a 2.5 million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health. The award is for the project titled “Prediction of Shoulder Injury for Disease Prevention in Children and Adults with Spinal Cord Injury using Advanced Biomechanical Modeling and Diagnostic Imaging.” This newly funded project has the long-term objective of establishing clinical practice guidelines for children with Spinal Cord Injury while at the same time improving guidelines for adults. The four-year project involves collaboration with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Northwestern University, Virginia Commonwealth University and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
