“Opioid fatalities in Wisconsin: Evidence from the Milwaukee county Opioid fatality review”
Counties across the United States have been struggling with how to best address the opioid epidemic. One strategy in Milwaukee County is the use of opioid fatality reviews to examine incidences of overdose. Members of the review group include physicians, behavioral health providers, county health departments, local schools, local, state, and federal law enforcement, the county district attorney’s office, emergency medical services, fire departments, county child protective services, and local and state corrections. Each member brings their own distinct perspective on the opioid epidemic and together they work to identify gaps and opportunities among systems to reduce overdose fatalities in the county. This presentation will discuss the fatality review process and recommendations that have been derived from the reviews.
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend the Health Research Forum scheduled for 12-1pm, Friday 9/21/18 in Enderis Hall 109.
Refreshments will be served.
