Étienne is engaged to Annette, a secretary in the factory where he works. Fantasizing about daring adventures, he decides to leave everything behind to go to a foreign land, Mingrelia. The country is governed by Princess Mandane who has been made a prisoner in her own palace. Étienne sees an opportunity to prove himself by rescuing the damsel in distress, but Germaine Dulac has other plans for them.
