Please join us for a very special screening event on Friday, April 8 at 7:00pm in Mitchell Hall’s Fine Arts Cinema (Room B91)! This event marks the Milwaukee premiere of the award-winning documentary
A River Runs, Turns, Erases, Replaces (2021). The film’s director and producer will both be present for a post-screening conversation. The film was awarded the Caligari Prize at Berlinale and has screened at many other major festivals, including the New York Film Festival, Hot Docs, Cinéma du Réel, and elsewhere. This innovative documentary explores urban spaces along the Yangtze River in Wuhan by juxtaposing surveillance footage of empty streets during the COVID lockdown with footage captured before the pandemic. The event is co-sponsored by Film Studies, the Moving Image Society, and the Union Cinema. If anyone has questions about the event, please email
Zach Anderson (zda@uwm.edu).
