Adrian's research interests include:

  • Horror film
  • Fanfiction and fan studies

  • Queer, trans, and feminist theory, particularly transfeminism

  • Alternative music scenes, particularly hyperpop and hardcore

  • Queer and trans expression through music

  • Theories of authority, primacy, originality, and naturality

  • Contemporary African American literature and cinema
  • Concurrent constructions of race, gender, and sexuality in the United States

  • Filmic portrayals of gore and body horror, and audience responses to such images

 

Biographical Sketch

Outside of academia, Adrian enjoys concerts, cats, horror, cycling, My Chemical Romance, walking and hiking, vinyl records, and caffeine. They are also known for their love of platform boots and hyperbole.
