English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Courses
EAP Courses are for international and domestic students whose 1st languages are not English and who received the following admission types: foundation admission for undergraduates, dual admission for graduates, and full admission as an undergraduate or a graduate into UWM.
Summer Language and Culture Program PLUS
The Summer Language and Culture PLUS is a short-term experience for students interested in improving their English skills and their cultural competency. In addition to morning English courses, participants select an afternoon content PLUS area focus in either STEM, Business, Digital Design and Fabrication/Art, or U.S. Culture. This program provides many opportunities for students to experience hands-on learning in the Milwaukee community and to enjoy the Milwaukee summer.
Conversation Partner Program
For more than 30 years, UWM’s English Language Academy has run the Conversation Partner Program. The ELA offers the Conversation Partner Program in both Fall and Spring semesters. The goal of this program is to provide inter-cultural growth for both international students and domestic students, give international students the opportunity to improve their English skills with a native speaker of English, and to make connections in the campus community. This program requires a semester-long commitment.
