Fall 2018 nonprof-IT Showcase

On Tuesday, December 11th, the School of Information Studies presented their Fall 2018 nonprof-IT Showcase. Groups of students aided in the creation and assistance of web pages for many Milwaukee non-profit organizations, those being: MACIC, The Parenting Network, Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, Fondy Food Center, Ko-Thi Dance Company, AIDS Resource Center, Eastside Senior Services, and Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful. This experience provides valuable service and the opportunity to do real work with real clients.

Alyssa Fischer describes her experience working with her group and completing the nonprof-IT class this Fall. “It’s basically where an organization or company wants something done in terms of their website or something tech related. And we, as students, get to use that as a class. We work all semester along with them, hand in hand, meeting them and coming up with how to develop what they need, for free. It helps them out, but it also gives us the experience to work hands-on.”

Students presented their projects to their clients and the UWM community from 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the Fireside Lounge. Panther Proud!
