Archived Content Notice

The guidance below will help you mark your content as archived if you intend to keep it but not update it.

Before you add an Archived Content notice to content on your subsite, read the Archived Web Content Guidance. This information will help you determine when to delete content, when to keep and remediate content, and when keep content and add the Archived Content notice.

Archived Content Point of Contact

Prior to adding the Archived Content notice on web pages, it’s critical that you identify the person or people who will be the point of contact if there’s a request that a digitally accessible version of the content be made available. That contact information must be included in each Archived Content notice.

Adding the Archived Content Notice to a UWM.edu Web Page

The following instructions are for adding the Archived Content Notice on web pages that are hosted on the UWM.edu website using the Web Identity 2.0 theme. If your subsite is not yet using the Web Identity 2.0 theme, follow the instructions below for Adding the Archived Content Notice on a non-WordPress web page.

The Archive Banner is added to your web pages using the UWM Notice block.

  1. Add a UWM Notice block to the content of your page and ensure it’s the first block of content, above all other content.
  2. Under the Block tab on the right side of the editor, configure the following settings:
    • Leave Add Dismiss Button set to Off
    • Change Add Icon to On
    • Leave Slim Notice Style set to Off
    • Change Notice Title to On
    • Change Notice Style to Information
  3. Set the Notice Title to the following text:

    This page has been archived and is not updated
  4. Set the Notice Content to the following text, being sure to update the name and email in all caps placeholders:

When There Are Many Archived Content Notices

If you are going to include an Archived Content notice on many web pages, it’s recommended that you create a Content Block to contain the Archived Content notice, then add the Content Block to the web pages that need an Archived Content notice. By using a Content Block, you’ll be able to update your Archived Content notice contact information in a single place.

Adding the Archived Content Notice to a non-WordPress Web Page

For other content management systems, static websites, web applications and/or UWM.edu web pages that are not hosted on the UWM.edu website using the Web Identity 2.0 theme, please use the following code for the Archived Content Notice, replacing the name and email address in the text with the appropriate contact for your organization. This code should be placed directly under the title or primary heading of the page.

<style type="text/css" media="all">
.archived-content-notice {background-color:#e7f6f8; margin-bottom:40px; padding:20px;}
.archived-content-notice p {color: #000; margin: 1em 0;}
.archived-content-notice p:last-of-type {margin-bottom:0;}
.archived-content-notice p.title {font-weight:600; margin:0;}
</style>
<div class="archived-content-notice"><p class="title">This page has been archived and is not updated</p><p>If you need assistance with this document, please contact [FIRSTNAME] [LASTNAME] at [EMAIL]</p></div>
