On October 6, author Jennifer Morales will speak about her book, Meet Me Halfway: Milwaukee Stories, UWM’s 2015 First Year Common Read selection. Morales will share experiences of living in Milwaukee for more than 20 years, raising children in the city, being the first Latino/a elected to the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, and being a part of many communities within one of the nation’s most segregated cities. She’ll talk about how those years of work to address access and inequality brought her into the lives of diverse people who inspired the beautifully rendered characters of her collection of short stories.
