We are pleased to let you know that students, faculty and staff who are fully vaccinated and do not have symptoms of COVID-19 no longer have to be tested on campus. As you may know, UW System President Tommy Thompson announced a few weeks ago that fully vaccinated students and employees would be exempt from testing. We have been working since then with the Milwaukee Health Department to ensure that our policies and processes meet local public health guidelines.
As a reminder, UWM’s current policy requires COVID-19 testing every other week for students, faculty and staff who come to a UWM campus at least once per week. Milwaukee campus students living in residence halls must be tested weekly.
Students and employees who meet the testing criteria can get an exemption from that requirement by completing this form. Please note that you must be two weeks past your final dose to be considered fully vaccinated. You also will need to upload proof of vaccination, which could be a copy of your vaccination card or a copy of your vaccination record from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry.
If you would like to get vaccinated at the clinic in the UWM Student Union, you can make an appointment at uwm.edu/vaccination. UWM strongly encourages vaccination as the best way to protect your health and help bring an end to the pandemic. A voluntary, anonymous survey will be distributed this week to help us determine what portion of our campus community has been vaccinated thus far and what portion plans to be vaccinated before the start of the fall semester. This information will be used to guide campus planning for the Fall 2021 semester.
It is important to continue following health and safety protocols while people are getting vaccinated. Please continue wearing your masks, washing your hands and social distancing. Panthers Protect Panthers!
