How long can students participate in this program?
  • Students can participate in the program for the duration of their studies and up to one year after graduation.
  • After graduation, students are designated as “Alumni” on the Panthers Connect platform and can transition to mentoring other students.
What are the program requirements?
  • Students are required to have an account on the Panthers Connect platform.
  • Students must be currently enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate or graduate program at UW-Milwaukee.
What is the time commitment?
  • A minimum of 60 minutes per month is required, scheduled at your convenience. More frequent communication is encouraged.

Note: The Panthers Connect platform makes it easy to stay in touch with your mentor, offering built-in texting and video chat features.

Are there assignments for this program?
  • You can set personal and professional goals for yourself, and your mentor can also assign goals to guide your development.
What is the duration of the program?
  • One session is offered each semester:
    • Fall: October to December
    • Spring: February to March
  • Participation is flexible, allowing you to join or leave as needed.
How are mentors and mentees matched?
  • Complete a mentoring application on the Panthers Connect platform, answering all questions thoroughly to help the algorithm match you with the right mentor.
  • You can view the profiles of all mentors in the program and “favorite” the alumnus/a you’d like to work with. Your favorites will play a key role in the matching process.
Is this program demanding?
  • No, the UWM Panthers Connect Mentoring Program is designed to be flexible and manageable, even for busy students.
