The UWM Libraries will be installing a new floor in the central area of the Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons and replacing carpet tiles in the inner and outer lobby of the library’s west entrance during winter break and UWinterM.
The library will remain open our regular hours during the project and most services will be available. The Circulation Desk and the Research Help Desk will shift to the South Commons during a portion of the installation.
The Libraries’ cash register will be closed during the project. If you need to pay a fine, please call 414-229-4132 or email libcirc@uwm.edu.
The UITS Help Desk at the library will also be closed during the project. For computer and printing issues, please contact UITS at 414-229-4040.
There will be occasional noise in the Learning Commons. All reading rooms and study areas in the library will remain open.
Floor Project Timeline
- December 23, 2016 Furniture moved from central Learning Commons. Library closes at 5 p.m.
- December 27 Project begins. Concrete floor sanded and vacuumed, with dust barriers containing the dust. New tiles installed.
- January 23, 2017 (Tentative) completion of project.
