The major in Italian has enabled graduates of our department to establish careers in, among other fields, international business, translation, television, and teaching.
The courses in Italian language and special topics, such as Food Studies and Translation, offer students several unique opportunities. Small class size enables students to benefit from individualized teaching methods and to work closely with faculty even in the lower-level courses. The popular offerings in Italian Food Studies may be applied toward the Interdisciplinary Food Studies Certificate, which prepares for careers in health, sustainability urban agriculture and the food industry. Our undergraduate courses in Italian to English translation prepare for the growing fields of in-house and freelance translation, or graduate studies. The Italian to English Translation Online Masters Program is to date the first in the United States.
