Moraine Chorus Concert

May 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

Free

This is the final concert of the Moraine Chorus. Many chorus alumni have come together for this concert, which features a 300-year premiere of a cantata by Heinrich Erlebach, accompanied by strings and organ; Sangena, a lively African processional; Circus Band, by Charles Ives; two canons by Joseph Haydn; an amusing parable of the Pharisee and the Publican by Heinrich Schütz; the powerful and very moving Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst (How the city lies desolate–about the destruction of Jerusalem, but composed by Rudolph Mauersberger after the firebombing of Dresden, where Mauersberger lost several of his choirboys to the flames); and ending with the beautiful As the Deer longs after the flowing Streams, by Felix Mendelssohn. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be collected for the West Bend Full Shelf Food Pantry.
