Senior Counselor
Student Health and Wellness Center

Lynn Mucha is a Milwaukee native receiving her BSW and MSW degrees from the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at UWM.  She began her work here at University Counseling Services in 2009 after working at both UW-Whitewater and Alverno colleges.   Having worked in College mental health for the past 29 years she continues to greatly enjoy working with students, “the university setting is an environment of so many transitions, learning and growth, it makes sense that students would seek out counseling during this time in their lives”. She has also worked in inpatient settings, private practice and with community intervention programs in Milwaukee serving diverse populations.

She enjoys meeting with students who are experiencing a wide range of concerns and challenges. Lynn views the counseling relationship as collaborative, “When I meet with a student, we work together to determine goals and a clear picture of what they would like to see different or improved by coming to counseling”. Some specific areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, grief/bereavement, women’s issues and mindfulness practices.

Outside of work Lynn enjoys being a parent, time with family and friends, gardening, staying focused on social justice issues and traveling.
