Thomas Bjugstad

Tom Bjugstad was hired as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach in the spring of 2018 and now serves in the role of Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning.

Bjugstad comes to Milwaukee after serving as the Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Wisconsin Badgers, a role he began in the Summer of 2016 while pursuing a master's degree in kinesiology.

While with the Badgers, he worked as the primary strength coach for both men's and women's tennis. He also assisted with the strength & conditioning for volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and rowing.

Before coming to UW, Bjugstad was an intern at Tulane and Southern Utah, working with football, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and volleyball.

Bjugstad received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2015. While there, he worked as a sport performance intern for three years with each of the university's 17 teams. During this time, he also served as a sports nutrition intern.

Bjugstad is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and he holds a Level I Sports Performance Coach certification through USA Weightlifting. Bjugstad is married to his wife Lauren.
