Jayden Richards

Jayden Richards is a doctoral student in Social Welfare with a focus in Criminology. She is currently working with Dr. Alyssa Sheeran in the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology researching the Milwaukee County Drug Treatment Court. The research includes using both qualitative and quantitative data to examine the effectiveness of the treatment court.

Jayden has also worked on several other research projects including co-authoring a paper with Dr. Sheeran on examining measures of deterring drunk driving in Wisconsin, contributing to research on the paper "Bridging the Racial Disparity in Wealth Creation in Milwaukee" with Dr. Rebecca Konkel and the Economics Department, and co-authoring a paper with Dr. Danielle Romaine Dagenhardt, Dr. Joshua Mersky, and Xiyao Liu on the impact of COVID-19 on Family Drug Treatment Courts.

In 2022 she received the Graduate Student Paper Award from the Midwestern Criminal Justice Association for her paper "A Spatial Analysis of Homicides in Milwaukee." She also was chosen by the Bureau of Justice Statistics to present at the NCVS 50th Anniversary Student Spotlight session for her research entitled "Characteristics of Crime Incidents and Victim Demographics: An Examination of Reporting Behaviors."
