My best advice is to research your internship placement, select a placement in an agency you most are interested in being employed at, and if you are to do two placements select one that is very different than the area you are interested in to broaden your experiences.

Why did you study social work?

I studied social work because I liked the idea of being a change agent, advocacy and working for and supporting social justice for marginalized people.

What has been the best social work job you had and why?

The one I have now at the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) because our clients are the toughest and we work in the community to help our clients live their best life.

How did HBSSW help you?

HBSSW was supportive and adapted my program so I could complete it as I commuted from Madison. Also, HBSSW had a great program which provided an excellent education in trauma, substance abuse, and behavioral health.

What is your best advice for social work students?

My best advice is to research your internship placement, select a placement in an agency you most are interested in being employed at, and if you are to do two placements select one that is very different than the area you are interested in to broaden your experiences.
