Bio

Dr. Amy Harley is a Registered Dietitian and trained in public health, specifically in community health education and health promotion/behavior change. Her research program incorporates both observational and intervention methods to address physical activity participation, healthy food consumption and subsequently chronic disease prevalence in low-income and racial/ethnic minority communities.

Her studies incorporate both mixed methods and community engagement. She has special interests in innovative community-academic partnerships and research designs that address health equity. Active research areas include:

  • African American men’s health
  • Obesity prevention in Latino neighborhoods in Milwaukee
  • Culinary education as a healthy eating intervention for MPS middle school children
  • Physical activity intervention methods for racially and economically diverse older adults
  • Patterns and predictors of health behaviors among residents of low-income housing developments.
