  • Junior, Communication major

In the fall of 2021, I decided to finish my degree at UWM. I realized I was facing many challenges being a full-time student with a full-time career and family; but, the staff and students were extremely supportive. I had never learned Spanish in a formal classroom setting, but my experience living abroad in Mexico for seven years led to my bilingual ability. Many of the professors aided in my success at UWM by offering their support and encouragement. Being an older student, I never felt that I was treated any differently than a traditional college student. I'd like to thank the professors and staff of the Communication and Spanish departments for their dedication and commitment to the success of their students. I will be traveling to Spain in 2026 and look forward to seeing the many different places I have studied over the last three years. I'd also like to add a special thanks to Professor Ester Suarez-Felipe because she inspired me to see the world and think about what I wanted to do with my degree after graduation. I'm excited to see what the future brings and also honored to be a part of Phi Beta Kappa.
