Single-subject designs provide educators and clinicians with a structure for systematically collecting data within a framework that will enable them to demonstrate a functional relationship between their practices and changes in behavior. The end result is empirical verification of an intervention. The intent of the course is to provide learners with an opportunity to acquire competencies related to planning, implementing, and analyzing such research. The methodology is not specific to any condition or age level; rather, a general method is described for conducting and interpreting research where individuals serve as their own control.
