Instructor Allison Libbey
Course Dates July 08 - August 17, 2024 (Fourth 6-week Session)
This course builds on SPA 103 (First-Semester Spanish) by helping students continue to develop their skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish. Students who are successful in this course have a solid foundation in: using the present tense, verbs likeĀ gustar, reflexive verbs, and basic vocabulary (classes, family, descriptions, professions, clothing, etc.). In Second-Semester Spanish, the main emphasis for grammar is on learning to use the past tense as well as learning to give instructions (mandatos) in Spanish. Vocabulary and cultural topics include leisure activities, food, celebrations, and travel. Students will work on a culture project that has them planning a trip to multiple locations in the Spanish-speaking world, and will build their oral skills in both the present and past tenses. While this course will be taught by one of our program’s instructors, all registration questions should be sent to Dr. Libbey (libbey@uwm.edu). Course Syllabus (PDF)
