We will examine these developments through varied historical sources—written, visual, and auditory. Given the breadth of this course, which includes economic, social, cultural, diplomatic, and political perspectives, we will focus on a few key themes: industrialization and development; migrations and incorporation; progressive policy trajectory and conservative resurgence; and emergence and maintenance of the U.S. as a global power.
