Introduction to Corrections: The purpose of this course is to examine the role of corrections in the American criminal justice system. Emphasis is placed on describing and assessing the effectiveness of correctional models in prisons, jails, probation, and parole. The course will also address other correctional topics such as the history of corrections, purposes of punishment, intermediate sanctions, prisoner reintegration, and the death penalty.
