This project aims to improve non-motorist safety in Wisconsin by addressing the lack of accurate pedestrian and bicycle counts. The project will establish a non-motorist counting network and reporting system on the Wisconsin State Highway System. This includes: 1. Forming a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to guide technology and methods for data collection; 2. Acquiring and deploying counting devices, including permanent and portable sensors; 3.Developing a web-based dashboard for data visualization and analysis; and 4. Piloting the program in selected locations, with plans for future statewide expansion. Key tasks include project management, literature review, acquisition and deployment of counting devices, continuous data collection, and the development of the data management platform.
