This project aims to develop a standardized, table-based Pedestrian Level of Traffic Stress (PLTS) tool to assess roadway suitability for pedestrians, similar to the widely used Bicycle Level of Traffic Stress (BLTS) framework. By incorporating key, easily accessible roadway factors from existing pedestrian suitability methods and safety literature, the PLTS tool will provide a practical and intuitive evaluation method for agencies. The project will produce a technical report with PLTS tables, maps, and recommendations for further research. The tool will be shared with transportation professionals, integrated into university courses at UWM, and presented at major conferences to enhance pedestrian planning and safety efforts.
