IPIT Researchers Evaluates the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program

UWM’s Institute for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation (IPIT) received a $73,763 award from the Department of Transportation to evaluate the local bridge improvement assistance pilot program and make recommendations for possible modifications and expansion to other areas of the local assistance program. Researchers on this project include Habib Tabatabai (PI, Civil and Environmental Engineering), Xiao Qin (Co-PI, Civil and Environmental Engineering, IPIT Director), and Mark Gottlieb (IPIT).  

IPIT researchers Dr. Schneider and Dr. Qin awarded 2021 TRB Best Paper Award

Robert Schneider (Urban Planning) and Xiao Qin (Civil and Environmental Engineering) worked with co-authors Andrew Schmitz (MUP alum) and Greg Lindsey (University of Minnesota) to produce a paper entitled, “Exposure-Based Models of Trail User Crashes at Roadway Crossings,” which received the Best Paper Award – Highest Score for Publication for the 2021 Annual Meeting from the Transportation Research Board’s Bicycle Transportation Committee. 

IPIT Researchers Helps the Wisconsin Department of Transportation with Workforce Development and Knowledge Management

UWM’s Institute for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation (IPIT), an umbrella organization that enhances collaboration and growth for multi-disciplinary research and teaching activities in all areas of infrastructure and transportation, received a $122,618 award from the Department of Transportation to help the state agency prepare and develop its workforce in times of high attrition, vacancies, and rapid changes in the transportation industry, profession, and technologies. Researchers on this project include Romila Singh (Organizations and Strategic Management), Xiao Qin (Civil and Environmental Engineering, IPIT Director), Nadya Fouad (Educational Psychology), and Mark Gottlieb (IPIT).
