This project examines geographic and time-of-day shifts in pedestrian crashes by injury severity level over the past decade using data from at least 10 metropolitan regions. By analyzing trends in fatal, severe, and non-severe pedestrian injuries, the study aims to determine whether rising fatalities reflect increased pedestrian exposure or a shift to more hazardous locations and times. The research will produce a technical report with maps, charts, and an interactive web-based dashboard to visualize findings. Key outcomes include safety recommendations for targeted interventions and informing urban planning and transportation courses at UWM. Findings will be shared with professionals and presented at major conferences to enhance pedestrian safety awareness.
