Interests & Expertise

Susan Stalewski’s areas of expertise and focus include academic innovation involving online and competency based education and workplace learning programs. In her role as Director of Academic Initiatives and Planning, she oversees the development and delivery of online programs and courses, is the program lead for Competency Based degrees (Flex), and facilitates the development of programs for modular learning in the workplace i(UWM GOLD).

Susan delivers instruction in the Medical Laboratory Science program focusing on undergraduate education in Clinical Chemistry. She is an expert in entry-level undergraduate education facilitates initiatives related to student success including freshman seminars and dual enrollment courses. She coordinates assessment of student learning and student evaluation of teaching in the College of Health Sciences. She is a strong proponent for Interprofessional education activities and serves as a representative on the Partners for Health Interprofessional Education core committee.

Professional activities include the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCL) Board of Directors (2001-2021), serving as president of the Wisconsin Society in 2009-10 and 2018-19. She coordinates activities for the national organization’s Scientific Assemblies (2017-20).
