Bio

Chris is a 4th year student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying graphic design and printmaking. He has a passion for art, design, problem solving, and creativity. Chris refers to the graphic design experience as “business casual,” stating “I enjoy this phrase because I feel it is a general representation of what it means to be a graphic designer; there is much responsibility involved to meet the demands of a client, but the designer still has enough freedom to think creatively and poetically about the work they produce.” Throughout his work, Chris allows his graphic design and printmaking experiences to overlap in order to create more compelling projects. In his future, he plans to combine his dual interests in order to build a career in screen printing.

Description

Parakeet is an interactive public kiosk that allows college students to anonymously record and share positive messages into the campus community. The “Play” function allows the user to listen to an audio message, and the “Record” function allows the user to share their own messages. This give and take system allows students to build self-confidence, but also to encourage students to help others in need.

Mission

Parakeet is a non-profit public art campaign that aims to promote happiness and positive energy within the spaces of college campuses. The interactive public kiosk allows people to record and share anonymous messages into the community. The kiosk serves as a catalyst of social activity within the campus atmosphere and aims to promote positive thinking and altruistic behavior.

Vision

Parakeet aims to help all college students, one smile at a time.
