Bio

Michael is studying Design and Visual Communications at UW-Milwaukee as an undergraduate. He has learned there are so many curiosities in life, in which it makes more sense to ask questions than to not. Since Michael was young, he has been intrigued by animals, art, the outdoors and food. All of which is still relevant today, but share a common theme of eliciting huge amounts of curiosity and creativity for that subject. Through my studies as a graphic designer, I have gained a great knowledge of the field of design, history, thinking, and difficulties. I now focus my attention on branding a company’s passion, web development, and illustrations. I currently am a graphic designer for a startup company, Axelstrat. It is a new media and marketing company based here in Milwaukee. I’ve gained immense knowledge and appreciation of the business, marketing, company relations, and overall professionalism while working under inspirational management. As someone with a love for outside,  a passion to create sustainable work through ethical practices goes hand in hand, and I try my hardest to practice that through my work. With the number of opportunities I have received, and knowledge gained, I look to expand my skills and pursue my passions.

Description

Teraviv is a company that produces boxes that hold the keys to starting a native garden in your front yard. The aim of the company is to reduce the amount of irrigated farmed grass in our country, as one step in the fight against climate change. Each box archetype carries a different variety of items native to the Milwaukee area, that are easy to maintain and benefit the local ecosystem by sequestering more carbon into the plants, reducing emissions from maintenance and toxins from fertilizing. These boxes are purchased locally and sustain small businesses by gathering inventory from local nurseries.

Mission

At Teraviv we aim to reduce climate effects of greenhouse gases by giving homeowners the key to growing native ecosystems, creatively in their own yards. Using our starter kit boxes that are purchased at local stores, the homeowner is able to replace small patches of grass in their lawn with native plants that will aid in a healthier ecosystem, and less farmed grass.

Vision

Teraviv will help revive the native ecosystems of our yards one box at a time. Through the implementation of native plants back into our homes we will make a stand against climate change and overall reduce greenhouse gasses.
