Melissa Scanlan, director of the Center for Water Policy, spoke with Vernon Oaks, host of radio program Everything Co-Op about her upcoming book Prosperity in the Fossil-Free Economy.
The book compares Spanish and U.S. cooperatives to reveal insights about legal design for the triple bottom line. The U.S. State Department awarded Scanlan a Fulbright Senior Scholar position in Spain in 2019 to pursue research about Spanish co-ops that are sustainability leaders.
The book, which will be released in September 2021, provides a legal blueprint for creating alternate corporate business models that mitigate climate change, pay living wages, and act as responsible community members.
Everything Co-op is a nationally broadcast weekly radio program that explores the impact and potential of the cooperative business model to solve community problems and encourage collaboration.
