Congratulations to MS Biomedical Sciences student Alex Hall whose poster was selected for an oral presentation at the Speakers Corner at the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) Congress held in Paris. Faculty Associate Elizabeth Liedhegner, PhD, and Professor Janis Eells, PhD, both from the Department of Biomedical Sciences served as co-investigators and co-advisors for her presentation, “670nm Photobiomodulation Modulates Bioenergetics and Oxidative Stress in an In Vitro Model of Diabetic Retinopathy.”
Eells, Liedhegner, and Hall also worked with co-investigators on the presentation “The Development of Photobiomodulation for the Treatment of Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration” and Eells, CHS alumnus Sandeep Gopalakrishnan (’08 MS Clinical Laboratory Sciences, ’12 PhD Health Sciences) and co-investigators presented, “670 nm Photobiomodulation as a Therapy for Diabetic Macular Edema.” Eells also served as one of the symposium moderators for “Photobiomodulation: An Innovative, Mitochondria-targeted Therapy for Dry AMD and Other Ocular Diseases.”
