Ian Wiese

Ian Wiese, an entrepreneur in residence at the LEC, is an innovative leader with more than 10 years’ experience in engineering management, strategy, technology, and operations, drawing on experience gained in a range of industries from deep tech to mining to biotech. A material science and mechanical engineer by training, Wiese has held leadership roles in metallurgy and innovation at Ampco Metal and Chicago Extruded Metals. Amongst other things he is currently the President & CTO of Metcovery, a specialty metals recovery foundry in Menomonee Falls, WI. He is passionate about promoting sustainability through process and product innovation in the metals and energy spaces.
Wiese has a BS from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree from Northwestern University, where he is an adjunct instructor in the university’s McCormick School of Engineering, teaching graduate-level courses in the school's MEM program as well as courses through the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Wiese is a native of Madison, Wisconsin.
