Georgina, a biomedical engineering major, has done research with the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center and UWM’s undergraduate research program. “The thing I like most about the program here is that they really push you to get experience outside of class,” Georgina says. “It makes me feel more confident that this is what I want to do as my career.”

New this year is the renovated UWM Student Union, the hub of student life on campus, home of everything from restaurants and student centers to a bowling alley and movie theater. Also new on campus is our four-story, state-of-the-art chemistry building — a welcome addition for the more than 5,000 UWM students who take chemistry classes each year.

Your College Journey Beyond the Classroom

UWM lays the groundwork for students to go deep on what most interests them. It’s also the place where resumes are built and future careers are launched.

Influential Internships

Our students build their professional networks through internships and other professional experiences at Fortune 500 companies, local Milwaukee businesses, nonprofits and health organizations, architecture firms, Milwaukee Public Schools and more.

A Top-Tier Research University

UWM is one of only two Wisconsin universities to earn a top research university ranking from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. For our students, this means there are more than 1,000 research opportunities available each year.

Hands-On Learning

UWM pairs top-notch academics with practical learning. These programs include nonprof-IT, which matches students with local nonprofits to improve their websites, and study abroad programs that range from a few weeks in the summer to semester-long programs.
