Undergraduate Programs
Are you fascinated by the science of human movement? Then a kinesiology degree might be for you. In the BS Kinesiology program, you’ll tackle topics like anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, the psychosocial aspects of sports and exercise, motor development and more. When you graduate, you’ll be ready to apply your knowledge and skills in professional settings from health care to sports to industry.
Plus, the fitness industry is booming — employment for strength and conditioning specialists and fitness professionals is expected to grow by 13%, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, outpacing the average for all occupations through 2028.
This program also prepares you for advanced studies in athletic training, physical therapy, chiropractic school, public health and research careers, to name a few.
With a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Science & Technology, you’ll gain a competitive edge in a variety of health-related fields. This unique curriculum blends courses and experiential learning in areas such as disability, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, assistive technology, ergonomics and universal design.
When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to pursue careers in behavioral and mental health, recreation therapy, adult day programs, community inclusion and design, accessibility consulting and more. Or, continue on to graduate education to become an occupational therapist.
In all these professions, you’ll help the individuals you serve live happier, healthier lives.
Accelerated Program
Athletic trainers are health care professionals who work as part of a collaborative team, providing services in injury prevention, diagnosis, emergency care and rehabilitation to physically active clients. Your work will take you to a wide variety of settings, including colleges and universities, hospitals, professional sports and beyond.
Our accelerated program allows students to complete both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years. That means you’ll be ready for permanent positions sooner — and save money along the way.
Kinesiology is the study of how the human body moves and how physical activity impacts health, fitness, sport performance and well-being. Our accelerated BS-MS Kinesiology program provides an excellent foundation for a career in strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology or continued education in research or practice.
Successful candidates can earn a BS and a MS in Kinesiology in just five years, saving time and money. This includes three years of undergraduate training and two years of graduate education.
There’s nothing more rewarding than helping people improve movement and feel better — and you’ll do both as a physical therapist. Our BS in Kinesiology provides an excellent foundation for graduate training in physical therapy. And freshman who are committed to becoming a physical therapist may qualify for our accelerated degree program.
Successful candidates can earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a BS in Kinesiology in a little over five and a half years, saving both time and money. That includes three years of undergraduate training during fall and spring semesters and just over two and a half years of year-round graduate education.
Master’s Programs
This professional degree program — accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Athletic Training Education — will prepare you to become a certified athletic trainer. As an athletic trainer, you’ll work as part of a health care team, providing services in injury prevention, diagnosis, emergency care and rehabilitation, among others, to physically active clients.
Our students are trained in clinical practice and empowered to work with people across different professions. Beyond that, real-world learning experiences help prepare you for a career that prioritizes patient care.
With a master’s degree in Kinesiology, you’ll have a deep understanding of the science of human physical activity, exercise and sport, as well as their impact on health, disease prevention and performance. You’ll choose one of three paths to fit your individual goals, with programs ranging from 12 to 24 months — including an option that can be completed entirely online.
Our program will prepare you for careers in a range of settings, including sports and athletic performance centers, fitness facilities, community health centers and hospitals. You’ll also be equipped to pursue PhD studies.
In our master’s program in Occupational Therapy, you’ll learn to design diverse therapies — from dressing, eating and driving to operating a modified computer — for clients looking to lead full lives after a life-changing illness or injury. And as diverse as these therapies are, they share a common goal: promoting health, wellness and engagement in everyday routines.
This program is taught by expert faculty who are leaders in occupational therapy, and is connected to more than 300 clinical sites nationally.
In our master’s program in Rehabilitation Science and Technology, you’ll be ready to dive into an evolving job market within the areas of rehabilitation, special education and disability-related services, as well as various occupational health, safety, and performance-focused domains.
This program consists of four tracks, each with its own distinct focus: Assistive Technology and Accessible Design, Human Factors Innovations, Sport and Performance Psychology, and Rehabilitation Sciences. And depending on which track you choose, you can complete the program in either face-to-face or hybrid formats.
Doctoral Programs
The Doctor of Occupational Therapy is a post-professional degree. Beyond an entry-level master’s degree, OTD students complete additional preparation in leadership, advocacy, theory and research. With an OTD, you’ll be better prepared to address the challenges in complex and ever-changing health care and education settings.
You’ll also study under the guidance of leaders in occupational therapy with expertise in assistive technology, ergonomics, maternal and child health, biomedical rehabilitation, motion capture analysis, assessment of upper limb function, pain physiology and more.
As a physical therapist, you’ll help people improve their movement and feel better, whether you’re working with a toddler who has a motor delay or an elderly client recovering from surgery. Our DPT program will prepare you to strive for excellence as a clinician and scholar while promoting healthy communities.
Our students benefit from small classes with award-winning faculty, community engagement that starts in the first semester, research experience in health science labs and access to more than 500 clinical sites across the country. That’s why all of our graduates are employed within six months of passing their national board exam.
Plus, physical therapists are in high demand, with a projected job growth rate of 14% from 2023 to 2033, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
With a doctoral degree in Kinesiology, you’ll be prepared to build a successful career as a leading scholar, research, teacher or industry professional. Whether you’re exploring exercise physiology, the psychosocial aspects of physical activity and exercise, or neuromechanics, you’ll fuel cutting-edge research that will move the fields of human movement and health sciences forward.
As the only PhD Kinesiology program in the greater Milwaukee area, we offer an urban, research-intensive experience at a fraction of the cost of private schools. Plus, all our graduates have found employment within their chosen field, going on to a variety of faculty positions, postdoctoral fellowships and industry jobs.
