Learn to Surf Lake Michigan

Did you know that the Milwaukee area is one of the surfing capitals of the Midwest? Lake Michigan is great to learn how to surf and provides a practice ground for bigger water. This surfing class is geared toward first-time surfers who have never been on a board before. We will provide wetsuits, surf boards, instruction, booties (if needed), and gloves (if needed). You will learn the beginner skills of how to “pop up,” stand up, and control a surfboard. Registration closes two days before the trip. Transportation will not be provided to Atwater Beach on Oct. 11.

Physical Activity Rating: MODERATE

All participants must know how to swim. Lake Michigan can present wavy conditions that can knock you off the surfboard, push you under the water, and require you to hold your breath for a few seconds.
