The UW-Milwaukee Photomedicine Laboratory studies the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in retinal injury and retinal degenerative disease. We pioneered investigations into the mechanism of action and the application of photobiomodulation by far-red to NIR light as a therapeutic approach to ameliorate mitochondrial dysfunction.
