At the time, our readers consisted primarily of ourselves and a small group of fellow Yiddish theatre researchers, our website was a simple WordPress blog, and our project was, as we wrote at the time, \u201can experiment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two years later, the Digital Yiddish Theatre Project blog is thriving. We have a new custom-built, full-featured website beautifully designed by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/familiar-studio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Familiar Studio<\/a>, launched in 2016. Nearly 1500 people follow us on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/digitalyiddish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">social<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yiddishstage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">media<\/a>. Dozens of articles offer original content on a wide range of Yiddish theatre topics, including profiles of individual actors and directors,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/franz-kafkas-vagabond-stars\">Kafka<\/a>\u2019s fascination with the Yiddish stage, Yiddish theatre in rarely-discussed places like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/dragging-the-netherlands-into-a-global-world-yiddish-theatre-and-the-ansky-society\">Amsterdam<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/an-amateur-yiddish-theater-in-cairo\">Cairo<\/a>, Yiddish theatre at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/yiddish-theater-at-summer-camp\">summer camp<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/yiddish-lives-smirks-and-breathes-restoring-community-theatre-into-yiddish-history\">contemporary<\/a>&nbsp;Yiddish and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/lessons-from-sidney-lumets-yiddish-actor-dad\">Yiddish-related<\/a>&nbsp;productions, and more. We&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/interview-indecent-playwright-paula-vogel-and-director-rebecca-taichman\">interviewed&nbsp;<\/a>playwright&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/paulavogelplaywright.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paula Vogel<\/a>&nbsp;and director&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccataichman.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rebecca Taichman<\/a>&nbsp;about the Off-Broadway production of Vogel\u2019s&nbsp;<em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccataichman.com\/INDECENT\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Indecent<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rebeccataichman.com\/INDECENT\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a>(now coming to Broadway this spring). We&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/how-i-rediscovered-di-goldene-kale-the-golden-bride\">asked<\/a>&nbsp;Michael Ochs to tell us the story of how he rediscovered&nbsp;<em>Di goldene kale<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>The Golden Bride<\/em>) and brought it to a Drama Desk award-winning production at the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/nytf.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Folksbiene<\/a>. When the legendary Fyvush Finkel passed away this summer,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/rokhl.blogspot.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rokhl Kafrissen<\/a>&nbsp;penned a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uwm.edu\/yiddish-stage\/fyvush\">memorable tribute<\/a>&nbsp;detailing Finkel\u2019s impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DYTP\u2019s activities have also extended beyond the blog, and we have exciting plans for the future. We are currently working to launch two new projects in 2017. The first will be a digital critical edition of the never-before-published seventh volume of Zalmen Zylbercweig\u2019s seminal&nbsp;<em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Leksikon_fun_yidishn_teater\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Encyclopedia of the Yiddish Theatre<\/a><\/em>. The second project, Plotting Yiddish Drama, will ultimately make hundreds of plot summaries of Yiddish plays searchable and available on our site. We look forward to bringing beta versions of these projects to our readers soon, and to producing new blog content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, we\u2019re continuing to spread the word about the DYTP. In July, Joel Berkowitz and I journeyed to Krakow, Poland and presented our project at the international&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/dh2016.adho.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DH2016 digital humanities conference<\/a>. In October, we were interviewed by Bonnie North for Milwaukee Public Radio\u2019s Lake Effect radio program.
