About Us

WHAT WE DO

The WRC partners with on and off-campus community resources and organizations to coordinate educational and empowering programming.

Our annual events include:

  • Identity circles: Juntas ( for Latinx-identified womxn), Sisters Like Me (for Black womxn), I’m first (for First Gen college students)
  • The Black Feminist Symposium
  • Take Back the Night

We work with students to connect them with mental health services, such as the UWM confidential victim advocate, to learn more about reporting any form of sexual violence including:

  • Rape
  • Sexual assault
  • Dating domestic violence
  • stalking and harassment

A NOTE ABOUT THE WRC AND GENDER

The WRC is not meant to be an exclusionary space. Our definition of “women”/”womxn” includes multiple identities (including but not limited to: womxn-identified folks, transgender folks, femmes and non-binary/gender-nonconforming folks). We welcome and support all identities in the WRC! We understand that women experience gender-based marginalization, and that this marginalization is compounded by other intersecting identities.
