Women in STEM – Panel

Join the Women’s Resource Center for a conversation about women’s experiences in STEM fields. Featuring Ashley Pollex, Alex Slay, Debnandini Mukherjee, Loren Galvao, Kyana Young, and Elise Haden.

Debnandini Mukherjee is a 6th year PhD student with the department of physics at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Debnandini works for The Leonard E Parker Center for Gravitation Cosmology and Astrophysics. Their area of research is detection and interpretation of gravitational waves from inspiralling and coalescing compact objects (for example, black holes). Debnandini works with the LIGO scientific collaboration.

Ashley Pollex graduated in 2014 from UWM with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture. Ashley’s love for carpentry, graphic design, art & architecture, can all be attributed to her childhood. She was inspired to follow in her parents footsteps, as they are also in STEM careers. Ashley is currently working for COST of Wisconsin as a Designer/BIM Technician.
Dr. Galvao is a public health physician.She is a Senior Scientist, Global Health, at the UWM’s College of Nursing (CON) Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE) and a Honorary Fellow, Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) School of Medicine and Public Health.
