{"id":5009,"date":"2026-04-21T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/wellness\/?p=5009"},"modified":"2026-04-23T13:15:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:15:56","slug":"managing-healthy-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/wellness\/managing-healthy-relationships\/","title":{"rendered":"Managing Healthy Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Healthy relationships&nbsp;are&nbsp;a significant part of every&nbsp;individual&#8217;s&nbsp;life. When I&nbsp;see the overall well-being of myself, I would like to balance my academics,&nbsp;professional,&nbsp;family,&nbsp;and social life&nbsp;equally so that my mental health will be good and I will be productive.&nbsp;Academic&nbsp;and professional&nbsp;life&nbsp;can be managed by incorporating a good organization and&nbsp;management&nbsp;strategy&nbsp;to handle our&nbsp;responsibilities&nbsp;in&nbsp;a productive way.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other&nbsp;hand,&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;healthy&nbsp;relationships will have&nbsp;a different approach as the situations we face in the relationships&nbsp;might be&nbsp;unexpected and they&nbsp;cannot always be fixed with&nbsp;organization&nbsp;skills.&nbsp;So,&nbsp;here are a few ways that I plan&nbsp;to take care of my loved ones&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;healthy relationships:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As a daughter\u00a0and\u00a0sister,\u00a0I\u00a0check on\u00a0my parents\u00a0and\u00a0siblings&#8217;\u00a0mental and physical health\u00a0to\u00a0make sure\u00a0that they\u00a0are okay\u00a0by helping them to schedule required appointments.\u00a0I\u00a0also\u00a0give them a strong feeling that I\u00a0will be their\u00a0strongest supporter\u00a0at every point\u00a0of\u00a0life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As\u00a0a friend,\u00a0I make sure to connect with\u00a0my close friends from school,\u00a0college\u00a0or\u00a0the\u00a0dearest ones from any point of my life.\u00a0We\u00a0have\u00a0a\u00a0great\u00a0time\u00a0talking\u00a0about our memories and spending\u00a0some quality time\u00a0together.\u00a0Also,\u00a0I\u00a0like to make sure to create a\u00a0comfortable\u00a0space\u00a0for them\u00a0to share their needs and thoughts\u00a0so\u00a0that\u00a0they\u00a0feel\u00a0strong emotional support from\u00a0my\u00a0friendship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a partner,\u00a0I make sure to listen to the needs and concerns of\u00a0my\u00a0partner to give him a strong feeling that our\u00a0partnership in life is\u00a0important,\u00a0which\u00a0helps avoid miscommunication and\u00a0fosters a sense of compassion in our relationship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a student and worker on campus,\u00a0I practice empathetic and friendly interactions with my\u00a0coworkers and other students to\u00a0create\u00a0a\u00a0sense of\u00a0belonging,\u00a0which\u00a0will\u00a0in\u00a0turn\u00a0help in fostering\u00a0an\u00a0inclusive community.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Spending some time reflecting on our relationships and trying to contribute in the best&nbsp;possible way&nbsp;will help us to build a positive and healthy relationship, which will improve our&nbsp;overall&nbsp;well-being.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Student\u00a0Health\u00a0and\u00a0Wellness\u00a0Center\u00a0provides\u00a0educational\u00a0events and\u00a0workshops on\u00a0healthy relationships,\u00a0so stay\u00a0updated\u00a0with\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/studentaffairs\/organizer\/student-health-and-wellness-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upcoming events and workshops<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bhavana\u00a0Tumakuru\u00a0Mahesh\u00a0\u00a0<br>She\/ her\u00a0\u00a0<br>Peer Health\u00a0Education\u00a0Program Assistant\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Healthy relationships&nbsp;are&nbsp;a significant part of every&nbsp;individual&#8217;s&nbsp;life.
