website.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Requirements<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completion of MSW degree, a master\u2019s degree in counseling\/counselor education or related field, <strong>or<\/strong> a master&#8217;s degree in marriage and family therapy <strong>and<\/strong> working toward independent licensure <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Degrees must be conferred and APSW\/LPC-IT\/MFT-IT certification obtained for state of Wisconsin by August 1, or the first day of the fellowship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two years of related experience is preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A supervised internship or equivalent work in a university counseling center, mental health agency&nbsp; or related professional setting is preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General skills, knowledge, and experience in individual, relationship, and group counseling\/psychotherapy; assessment; multicultural issues; In addition to the policies and procedures of SHAW, you must also abide by the ethical code of your discipline, e.g., NASW, ACA, or AAMFT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To avoid dual relationships and protect privacy, applicants to the SHAW\u2011Counseling training program must not have previously received clinical services from SHAW\u2011Counseling (triage and case management appointments excluded). Counseling interns are also ineligible to receive SHAW\u2011Counseling services during their internship. Applicants who are former clients or anticipate needing services in the future should consider this policy carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recording<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trainees are required to record all of their clinical sessions and will only be assigned clients who consent to recording of their sessions. Recording is a necessary part of the training process that facilitates supervision and provides important feedback on the service you provide. Reviewing your recorded sessions and using them in supervision will help you grow as a clinician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UWM is an equal opportunity employer and institution.
