This year&#8217;s flu shot clinics are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday, October 7<\/strong><br>Sandburg Flicks<br>1 p.m. &#8211; 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday, October 16<\/strong><br>Student Health and Wellness Center, 7th Floor<br>9 a.m. &#8211; 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, October 22<\/strong><br>Student Health and Wellness Center, 7th Floor<br>noon &#8211; 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faqs\">FAQs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uwm\" data-accordion-cool-selectors=\"1\"><button class=\"uwm-p-accordion--toggle-button size-p-md\">Expand All<\/button>\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">What should I do if I am having an issue with scheduling my flu shot appointment?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>To schedule on the patient portal, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.medicatconnect.com\/\">uwm.medicatconnect.com.<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have not used the patient portal, you will need to register using your UWM email, name, and birthdate to create a username and password.&nbsp; If you have used the patient portal you will need to log in. If you forgot your password, there is an option to reset.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are in the patient portal, go to the three lines in the upper left corner and choose appointments.&nbsp; At the bottom of the page, you can hit the submit button which will bring up a search which will indicate the next available appointments.&nbsp; Choose Medical clinic followed by Flu shot at various locations around campus.&nbsp; Pick the date of the flu clinics that you are interested in, and the available times should be in green.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also schedule your flu shot by calling 414-229-7429.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">What are the symptoms of influenza? <\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Influenza symptoms usually come on suddenly.&nbsp;People who have influenza (commonly called flu) often feel some of these signs and symptoms:&nbsp;fever or feeling feverish\/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness). <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">When is the best time to get my influenza vaccine? <\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The best time to receive your flu shot is by the end of October.&nbsp; This will allow you to have immunity during the peak influenza season.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">Why should I get a flu vaccine?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The best way to prevent influenza is with an annual influenza vaccination.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flu vaccine can help you from getting the flu or make you less sick if you do get the influenza.&nbsp;It\u2019s important to remember that if you contract influenza, you could pass it on to your friends, family, or coworkers.&nbsp;We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to get their flu shot and help contribute to the good health of our campus community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">I got the flu vaccine last year. Do I really need it every year?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Influenza viruses are constantly changing. Every season, the flu vaccine is updated to protect against the influenza viruses that are found to be the most common during the upcoming season. In addition, immune protection declines over time; the annual flu shot boosts your immunity each year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How can I get a flu shot if I can&#8217;t make one of the flu clinic times? <\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p><em><br><\/em>If you are unable to attend one of the flu clinics, a nurse visit at the Student Health and Wellness center can be scheduled online or by calling 414-229-7429.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How much is the flu shot and how can I pay for it? <\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>The cost of the flu shot is $15.&nbsp; We do not accept insurance.&nbsp; The Student Health and Wellness Center accepts cash, check, debit card, Visa, and Mastercard as a form of payment.&nbsp; Payments accepted at the Union Fireside Lounge and Sandburg Flicks are cash, debit card, and all major credit cards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--header\">How can I get documentation that I received a flu vaccine If I attend a flu clinic?<\/div><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel\"><div class=\"uwm-p-accordion--panel-inner uwm-u-clear\">\n<p>Influenza vaccines are documented in the Wisconsin Immunization Registry within 24 hours of receiving the vaccine.\u00a0 The Wisconsin Immunization Registry can be accessed through their website-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhfswir.org\">https:\/\/www.dhfswir.org<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0You can also ask for documentation at the time of your flu shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-questions\">Questions? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact Jenny Preder at preder@uwm.edu for questions and more information. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fall 2025 Flu Shot Clinics The Student Health and Wellness Center is offering flu vaccinations during the month of October.
