Kari Brickler, RN, BSN

I grew up in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and came to Milwaukee to attend college. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a BSN degree in Nursing in 1994. I have worked in various settings as a nurse, including rehab/sub-acute, paediatrics, primary office clinic triage nurse and since 2002 have worked for UWM's Norris Health Center. I was hired as a triage/phone nurse and over the years have grown into the Clinic Manager role. In this role, I oversee the day to day clinic operations and am responsible for front office and nursing departments.
I love student health and enjoy educating students on how to care for themselves. The things that I learn from the students help me in my role and in my life as I raised my own children. Students curiosity and desire to learn about how to better care for themselves is fundamental in college health. This is the first time a good portion of these young adults are seeking care on their own and that can be scary. Trying to be open and honest with them, asking questions, and always trying to be sure what I am saying is being understood is my focus when caring for this young adult population.
Outside of work I am married and have 2 adult sons. I enjoy reading, puzzles, playing cards, listening to music, baking, and spending quality time with friends and family.
