During Panther Academic Welcome, students will get together in small groups and discuss the text selected for the Common Reading Experience. The purpose of this discussion is to expose new freshmen to a collegiate level academic discussion and to encourage dialogue with their peers around the themes of the text.
Students who participate in this discussion have agreed that the discussion leaders, usually professors, bring an interesting perspective to the discussions, feel their professors are more approachable and that the text makes them think about important moral and social issues.
This year’s selection will be announced at the end of April.
